George Lakoff is in de dichterswereld vooral beroemd vanwege twee boeken over metaforen: Metaphors we Live by en More than Cool Reason: A Field Guide to Poetic Metaphor, beide geschreven in samenwerking met Mark Johnson.Toen ik gisteren K. Schippers een van zijn inventarisaties als gedicht zag voordragen, bedacht ik: kun je de inventarisaties van thematische metaforen van Lakoff/Johnson misschien op vergelijkbare tot gedicht maken?
Je krijgt dan bijvoorbeeld zoiets:

I’ve got an ace up my sleeve
